RESIDENCY TRAINING FOCUS:

  • Forefoot: HAV bunion deformity, hammertoe contractures, digital trauma, distal metatarsal
    osteotomies, skin-plasty and de-rotational techniques, plantar plate repair, management of
    neuromas, etc.
  • Midfoot: metatarsal fractures, Lis franc joint fracture/dislocations, Charcot
  • Neuroarthropathy reconstruction, metatarsus adductus correction, management of
    brachymetatarsia, tendon & ligamentous repair/augmentation, etc.
  • Hindfoot: STJ arthrodesis, triple arthrodesis (STJ, Calcaneal-Cuboid & Talo-navicular), pes
    planovalgus correction (calcaneal osteotomies), STJ arthroereisis, calcaneal fracture,
    navicular fracture, tendon & ligamentous repair/augmentation, etc.
  • Ankle: ORIF ankle fractures, ankle arthroscopy, ankle arthrotomy, lateral ankle instability
    and ligament repair, percutaneous & open TAL for the management of equinus contracture,
    gastrocnemius recession, etc.
  • Tibia/Fibula: correction of deformities related to Blount’s Disease, complex ankle fractures,
    external fixation, complicated trauma cases: pilon fracture, comminuted tibia and fibula
    fracture, etc.
  • Other Orthopedic experience: level one trauma cases of upper and lower extremities.
    multiple hand and elbow bony and soft tissue cases, total knee and hip and elbow
    replacements. Arthroscopy of knee, hip and shoulder, etc.
  • Miscellaneous: Charcot Neuroarthropathy reconstruction, diabetic foot limb salvage and
    reconstruction, endoscopic & open plantar fasciotomy, orthotic casting and fabrications.
  • Wound care & Limb Salvage: weekly rotations at the New York Methodist Hospital Wound
    care Center, Synthetic Skin Grafts (Integra, ACell, Graft Jacket, Apligraf, etc.), autologous
    wound dressings; split thickness skin grafts
